Brent Baker

Principal

Brent Baker opened JSA St. Louis branch in 2011, which he founded with Brian Burke.  Brent has been involved with agriculture his entire life, growing up on a grain farm in southern Illinois where he still farms today. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy. Brent’s experience in the agriculture business includes holding positions focused on price risk management for producers and end-users, as well as proprietary trading.

Brent began his career in 1998 working for ADM in Decatur, originating corn and soybeans for processing and for the southeast rail market. He also spent two years in the international soybean division — one year in Torreon, Mexico, at a soybean crush facility and a year in Mexico City in the corn/soy protein sales division.

In 2002, Brent began working for Granite Grain as a grain merchandiser specializing in FOB trucking and specialty grains programs and then moved to Abengoa Bioenergy Trading as director of trading, where he managed all proprietary trading activities and served on the corporate risk committee.

Brent Baker is a registered Associated Person of John Stewart and Associates and principal in the company.
