Bill Tierney is executive vice president of JS&A and is located in the Washington, D.C. office which opened in 2006. He has Ph.D. in Ag Economics.
Dr. Tierney is an agricultural economist and crops market analyst with over 25 year’s experience in agri-business, universities, and government. Dr. Tierney has consulted with a large variety of agribusiness firms, government agencies, and foreign clients. He was a frequent contributor to news articles appearing in regional, national, and international publications.
Most recently (2003-2006), Dr. Tierney served as the USDA's principle grains economist and was the chair of the USDA committees that produced the monthly wheat and feed grains supply and demand forecasts.
Prior to his service at USDA, he was a Professor in the Department of Ag Economics at Kansas State University and served as the state's extension crops marketing specialist (1983-2003). While at Kansas State, he worked extensively with producers, processors, and international groups.
After receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Tierney worked as the wheat and flour analyst in the commodity analysis department of the Pillsbury Company (1981-1983). In that capacity, he analyzed the markets and advised the company on its risk management strategies in the wheat and flour markets.
Dr. Tierney is a registered Associated Person of John Stewart & Associates.
