Mr. Schultz is vice-president of the company and is located in the St Joseph, Missouri office, which he opened in 1998 to offer market advisory and futures brokerage services to producers and commercial accounts. Customers include producers, grain elevator companies, feed manufacturers, livestock feeders and food processors throughout the U.S.
Mr. Schultz grew up on the family farm in Illinois and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Southern Illinois University. He began his career in 1982 as a commodity trader with Bunge Corporation. His responsibilities included trading grain and by-products by barge, rail and truck and coordinating the handling of specialty products through the company's facilities throughout the South. From 1987 to 1992 Mr. Schultz was the Merchandising Manager for Demeter Incorporated and was responsible for the commercial activities for twenty facilities located in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. From 1992 to joining John Stewart & Associates (then John P. Stewart Inc.) in 1998 he was the Merchandising Manager for ConAgra Corn Processing and was responsible for all commercial functions, risk management and logistics for the corn processing facility and eleven million bushel terminal elevator.
Mr. Schultz's experience is in managing grain handling assets and the risks associated with them. This combination of merchandising skills and asset management is the focus of his marketing strategies and forms the framework for his business.
