Phil Coffin is Principal of the JS&A Minnesota Branch, which he opened in 2006. He is a Minnesota native and attended the University of Minnesota , graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Economics.
Mr. Coffin has extensive experience through two major grain companies (1980-2004). With CHS, Inc, (formerly Cenex Harvest States) he gained a wide variety of experience in grain trading, processing, and logistics. He was instrumental in opening a new regional office for Louis Dreyfus Corp. in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While with Dreyfus, he built a successful feed grain export program from the Western Corn Belt to Asia through LDC’s export terminal at Seattle , Washington . In addition, he managed the rail logistics for two million tons of grain moving through that facility annually and did proprietary research in support of LDC’s worldwide trading efforts.
In 2004, Mr. Coffin founded PROVISOR LLC, an agricultural risk management company, to supply professional risk management services to producers, feeders and processors in the Upper Midwest . He is now using his grain and risk management background to offer commercial clients the combination of team experience of JS&A in addition to his own talents.
Mr. Coffin is a registered Associate Person of John Stewart & Associates and a Branch Manager of JS&A.
